The inhabitants of the Cape Rouge had a way of dealing with traumatic events, and that way was getting very, very far away from where the traumatic events had happened for a while. But it was winter, and cold, and something about recent events hadn't left Lucifer particularly predisposed to the Bahamas.

No, they needed a place that was equal parts Duke and Octavia, to remind them all of who Octavia and Duke were, specifically.

And so Lucifer had found this island, put down a not inconsiderable amount of money, and told his partners they were leaving.

He had not told them where. But, as the portal opened onto the warm, green island, he didn't think they'd disapprove. "And here we are."

"... So, not the Bahamas," Octavia noted, upon her first look around.

It was warm, however, so she was now peeling off her hoodie. Immediately.

“Not the Bahamas,” Duke agreed. He turned a slow circle. It was summer, which meant . . . “South America?”

"Chile, to be specific," Lucifer said, as the portal closed behind them. "A private island called Isla San Pedro. 25 square miles with nothing but woods, brushland, beaches, two lakes, a grand lodge, some cabins, a houseboat, and several generators for power."

"Nothing but a lot of things," Octavia noted, with something amused in her voice. The hoodie got tied around her waist, for now. "Cabins and a houseboat?"

“Privately owned . . . by who?” Duke added, giving Lucifer an amused side-eye.

"Me, as of yesterday morning," Lucifer said sunnily. "The hotel project they were envisioning for this place ran out of funding. I bought the houseboat on Sunday and had it moved here because I know you two love a good houseboat."

"... You bought another island," Octavia said, a wry tilt to her amused look. She turned to Duke. "He bought another island."

Yes, he'd already figured that out.

"Are you surprised he bought one?" Duke asked her. "Or that it took him this long?"

He turned to Lucifer and kissed him on the cheek. "It's beautiful, babe. Well picked."

"I just wanted to make sure we had ocean and woods," Lucifer sighed. "And we don't have that on the Bahamas.

He wrapped one arm around each of them.

Octavia immediately leaned a little more against his side. Clearly her urges to be physically close to them even more than usual were yet to fade, after the latest bit of Fandom fuckery.

"Well, as the one who likes the woods," she rasped, as she also leaned up to press a kiss to Lucifer's cheek, "mochof."

"As the one who likes ocean, seconded," Duke said. "Are you sure it's fancy enough for your tastes? Or does 'private island' scratch that itch?"

"It's got a nice lodge, I can get contractors to fix it up later," Lucifer said. "For now, I really don't care how bloody fancy it is, as long as we get to spend however long we please together and well away from any fuckery for the next while."

"Well," Octavia replied, looking around at the view again. "This seems like a good start."

"Agreed," Duke said. ". . . Anyone mind if I strip down and dive in first thing?"

"What, watch your pretty arse launch itself into the warm, inviting waters of Southern America?" Lucifer asked. "Mind? I insist."

Octavia snorted.

"Yeah, what he said," she rasped. "Go on, then."

Duke pulled his shirt off. "Anyone want to join?" He asked, as he opened his fly.

"In a second," Lucifer said, grinning wildly as he admired Duke's chest.

Octavia, however, was already pulling away from Lucifer so she could start also peeling more of her clothes off.

She might have just realized how she'd missed out on basically all opportunities to swim in natural waters this past summer, thanks to another quirk of Fandom's, the one that had left her unwilling (unable) to show too much skin for a good while.

She was looking to make up for it.

Duke's smile broadened as he saw what she was doing. "Hell yeah," he said. He finished hopping out of his jeans, flipped Lucifer a jaunty salute, and jogged towards the water line (making sure to give Lucifer plenty of time to admire the view as he went).

He appreciated it, Duke. A lot.

Much as Lucifer appreciated Octavia peeling off her clothes.

He gave them both a moment to do so, before he reached up and peeled off his jacket, unbuttoned his shirt, and got started on his trousers.

Octavia, true to form, was not wasting any of her time ogling either of them. She'd lost all the clothes in quick succession, and was following Duke, to wade into the water.

Duke let a low sound of satisfaction as he hit the water, and dive under the moment it was remotely deep enough.

“Oh god, I needed that.”

It only took Lucifer a moment to turn all of his clothes into a very neat stack in his hands.

He padded up to the edge of the water with a smirk. "And right where you belong."
