The inhabitants of the Cape Rouge had a way of dealing with traumatic events, and that way was getting very, very far away from where the traumatic events had happened for a while. But it was winter, and cold, and something about recent events hadn't left Lucifer particularly predisposed to the Bahamas.

No, they needed a place that was equal parts Duke and Octavia, to remind them all of who Octavia and Duke were, specifically.

And so Lucifer had found this island, put down a not inconsiderable amount of money, and told his partners they were leaving.

He had not told them where. But, as the portal opened onto the warm, green island, he didn't think they'd disapprove. "And here we are."

"I'm very disappointed in you both," Lucifer told them, and splashed Duke again.

Octavia veered from the fist bump right into splashing him.

You know, on Duke's behalf.

Duke had a split second of bracing for betrayal -- then nodded and shrugged. "That works too."

And sent a veritable wave of splashing in Lucifer's direction as well.

"No, no, no, no--" Lucifer laughed, bringing his arms up to shield himself - uselessly - from the onslaught.

It seemed to just spur Octavia on into a veritable frenzy of splashing.

He'd clearly brought this upon himself.

Duke eventually had to give up on his splashing. He was laughing too hard to keep it up. He settled back into the water, gently treading, and tipping his head back to soak up the sun.

"Harridan!" Lucifer cried, and finally flung his arm away from himself-- sending an entire wave at Octavia.

"You can't hurt me with words I don't understand!" Octavia taunted him.

Maybe.

It was hard to tell between the sputtering and the laughing.

"Did you just call her a heretic?" Duke asked with a laugh.

In his defense, his ears were full of water.

"No, that would have been a compliment," Lucifer laughed, splashing half-heartedly in Duke's direction.

"You shouldn't be insulting me in the first place," Octavia informed him, oh so seriously.

And tried to stretch out onto her back for a nice little bit of floating.

Duke sent a splash more into the air than back at Lucifer in return and smiled over at Octavia's floating form. "Come relax, babe," he said. "Join our truce."
